Scene Changes

ACT ONE, Scene 1
1900. The foyer room at Lady Billows' house in Loxford, England. Florence, the housekeeper, is clearing away things on a tray. She takes the tray out into the kitchen and comes back with a feather duster.
(Notes: ABOUT LADY BILLOWS why the meeting takes place there, where and how is it there must be obvious, stuffy macsuline smell, open widow)

INTERLUDE scene change music

ACT ONE, Scene 2
Grocery shop, kids playing ball against the lower half of the door, upper half is open, ball flies thru air and rolls across the shop.
(Notes: ABOUT MRS HERRING, surrounds Albert with home in the best and worst sense of the word, rough and blue collar, house attached to it)

ACT TWO, Scene 1
The Vicarage garden. Trestle table loaded with cakes, jellies and other goodies. When curtain rises, Nan bringing in plates of sandwiches. Flo enters. (Notes: ABOUT THE TOWN ITSELF, makeshift event that takes itself very seriously, speeches very important, special area for speeches, special place for Albert as May King, logical place for bike action, they must know what glass to fill, sense of church important)

INTERLUDE scene change music

ACT TWO, Scene 2
Inside the shop later that evening, dusk fallen, light streams through the shopwindow from the street lamp outside, a white shape looms past the window, fumbling with the latch of the door, banging door back and forth, tingling the bell, Albert enters
